After standing for half an hour with no movement from Shi Yan, Butler Li grew restless.
"Mr. Jiang, dinner time is approaching. I'll go make arrangements," Butler Li said, attempting to head toward the kitchen.
"Can't you see I'm working? Why interrupt? Besides, there are chefs in the kitchen, do you really need to worry so much?" Shi Yan replied with displeasure.
His rebuke was loud enough for all the other staff in the house to hear.
They lowered their heads, pretending to see and hear nothing.
When Shi Yan was absent, they knew who truly held authority in the Jiang household, and none dared offend Butler Li.
"Did I hire you, or did Butler Li? I've never seen you pay so much attention to Ruoxue. Anyone would think Butler Li was your employer!" Shi Yan said angrily.
"Mr. Jiang..." Butler Li tried to speak.
"If you have something to say, tell it to the police. Theft of high-value property—guess how many years you'll get." Shi Yan cut her off, unwilling to waste another word.
No sooner had he finished speaking than the sound of police sirens echoed. After entering this small world and learning the plot, Shi Yan had flown back from abroad immediately.
He had his assistant contact a housekeeping agency and prepared to replace all the staff, keeping only Aunt Chen, who was the only one among them to treat Jiang Ruoxue well.
If not for Aunt Chen’s care of Ruoxue in the original storyline, Shi Yan would have dismissed her as well.
As for the others, paid with his money yet allowing Butler Li to bully his daughter, firing them was already lenient.
"Mr. Jiang, you can’t do this to me. I was sent here by the old mansion," Butler Li kneeled, begging for forgiveness.
"This time it’s my fault. Please, Mr. Jiang, be magnanimous. I swear I’ll never dare again," Butler Li crawled toward Shi Yan, trying to cling to his leg.
Shi Yan gave her no mercy, kicking her aside without hesitation.

"Heh, you say you don’t dare, but you’ve got nerve. Anyone would think your granddaughter was the true heiress of the Jiang family! You gave my daughter’s things to your granddaughter—do you take me for a fool? You think I can't tell genuine from imitation, or spot the wrong material?"
Butler Li sat on the floor, eyes filled with despair. Suddenly, as if recalling something, she cried, "You can’t treat me this way, I belong to the old madam! She sent me!"
"Does my mother know how you treat her own granddaughter?" Shi Yan looked at her as though she were an idiot.
Indeed, Butler Li had been sent by Madam Jiang, working at the old mansion for years. Otherwise, the original owner would never have left his daughter in her care.
But in the end, she was just a hired hand, and compared to her own granddaughter, Madam Jiang would surely side with family.
Shi Yan had already sent evidence to Madam Jiang. Upon learning what Butler Li had done, Madam Jiang herself contacted the lawyers, insisting Butler Li return every cent.
Butler Li was led away in silver handcuffs by the police.
"Mr. Jiang, rest assured, we’ll do our utmost to recover your property."
"Thank you, officers." As one of the city's major taxpayers, Shi Yan’s case would naturally receive the police’s full attention.
After the police left, the remaining staff barely dared to breathe, terrified of being implicated.
"Mr. Jiang, the contracts are signed. Here are their profiles—each rated five stars and fully screened, with no health issues," the assistant entered with the newly hired housekeeper, gardener, chef, and others.
He handed the contracts to Shi Yan, who examined them carefully.
"Very well," Shi Yan nodded.
"You may all leave. You’re dismissed as of today," he said to the original staff.
Pretending to work, their eyes flickered nervously toward Shi Yan. Hearing they were fired, their pretense faltered.
"Mr. Jiang, these were all Butler Li’s actions. We did nothing. You can’t fire us without reason!"

"I hired you to care for Ruoxue. What have you done? Anyone would think you were hired by Butler Li. If even one of you had reported her actions, things wouldn’t have escalated to this point.
As I understand, Butler Li often brought her granddaughter over on weekends. The things I bought for Ruoxue—whose pockets did they end up in? Are you truly blind to it all?" Shi Yan’s voice rang out sharply.
How could someone’s shamelessness reach such extremes, utterly devoid of dignity?
"Mr. Jiang, we didn’t mean it! Butler Li threatened to fire us if we told you.
We know we were wrong, we’ll never dare again. Please, for the sake of our families, spare us. We really can’t lose this job."
"Mr. Jiang, please!" The staff begged, crying for forgiveness and promising never to repeat their mistakes.
"You can’t even grasp your own responsibilities—why should I keep you? Escort them out. And watch closely as they pack, make sure they don’t take anything that isn’t theirs."
Shi Yan knew Butler Li’s conduct had emboldened these people, stirring much mischief.
Though not as brazen as Butler Li, petty thefts had occurred. Shi Yan was able to uncover every single one.
"And what right do you have to judge us? If you didn’t always travel and fly abroad, Butler Li wouldn’t have had the opportunity to treat your daughter this way. At the root, it’s your neglect—an irresponsible father who cares nothing for his own child,"
Seeing Shi Yan unmoved by their pleading, the gardener finally snapped, shouting at him.
"And what right do you have to judge us!"
Shi Yan looked at the gardener, who instinctively stepped back. Shi Yan straightened his clothes and stood.
"You’re right. If I’d paid more attention to Ruoxue instead of focusing solely on my work, Butler Li wouldn’t have dared act as she did. I truly have been an irresponsible father. From today, I will learn to be a responsible one."
