Volume 1, Chapter 32: Could it be that I am her disciple?
"Take her back to the Meng family? Are you insane?" Lu Yanci exclaimed in shock.
"What’s wrong? Is there a problem?" Meng Shiyao blinked at him, looking genuinely puzzled.
Lu Yanci’s voice was laced with urgency and irritation. "She is a living, breathing human being with her own mind. How can you just decide to take her away as if she were an object?"
Meng Shiyao looked at him. "Cousin, why are you so anxious?"
Lu Yanci fell silent.
Suddenly, the headlights flared, the window rolled down, and the man’s handsome, striking face appeared before Jiang Niannian.
The coronation ceremony was set for twelve days later. Everything was to be kept simple, but the governors of each prefecture were naturally required to come to the Imperial Capital to report on their duties.
"And it’s not just that—what the hell were you thinking, giving those two million back to him?! Who in their right mind turns down money?!" Zhuang Shufei felt like her lungs were about to explode from anger at her best friend.
"You’re her boyfriend, shouldn't you be the one asking what's bothering her? You didn't notice anything at all?" Ruan Yaoyao deliberately put on an expression of surprise.
Xu Lianghan returned just at that moment, and Yu Xiangqiao looked at him as if he were a lifeline, immediately pleading for his help.
Yun Jiuxi’s mouth twitched. She must have been having a run of bad luck today; she had been schemed against on her wedding day, her bridal sedan blocked, and now there was… what? Some prince holding a funeral?
If it weren't for those two lunatics in love, causing countless supporting characters to become mere tools for their romance—dying or ending up crippled—the resentment of these cannon-fodder victims would not have gathered into such a formidable black mist.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Yang’s expression softened. His eyes were filled with contemplation as he chewed over every word Qin Ran had said. When he looked up at her, the reluctance was gone from his gaze, though he still found it hard to swallow his pride, and he fell silent.
In the photograph, Wen Liang looked quite youthful, appearing as nothing more than an ordinary college student, lacking the steady maturity he would later possess. The two were acting intimately, and it was clear their relationship was far from ordinary.
Seeing that their comrades, who had thrown away their armor and fled, were not being pursued by the Northern Territory soldiers, the desire to live, which had been extinguished in their hearts, suddenly reignited.
A bone-chilling screeching sound erupted, like fingernails dragging across a chalkboard. It was the sound of energy clashing against a repulsive force. The energy arrows were forced to a halt three meters in front of Li Lingyi by an invisible power, unable to advance even an inch, yet they continued to batter against the barrier, locked in an unyielding stalemate.
The Dragon Clan was notoriously protective of their own, especially their young. If anyone dared to harm a dragon hatchling, the entire clan would undoubtedly be thrown into a frenzy.
As for the researchers, they finally understood why they had been abducted. It was clearly to take them to an island to work for the enemy. For them, this was undoubtedly a massive blow and a source of great anguish. A few who were fiercely loyal to Marley even threatened to jump into the sea.
"Yes, you! I want you to shoot our next magazine cover. My dear sister, how could you have the heart to refuse me? I’ve been here so many times already," Su Mang pleaded pitifully.
Li Lingyi turned his head and saw a young man about his own age with long, yellow hair. A lock of hair covered half his face, and his features were delicate yet defiant, exuding an air of absolute confidence.
Suddenly, Buddha-light descended from the sky, melting the accumulated snow. From within an ice cave, two young descendants of the ancient tribes rose into the light and were whisked away.
Xuanyuan let out a cold laugh, pointed a finger at Chiyou, and declared, "The Primordial emerges, Yin and Yang appear!" The Primordial Yin-Yang Divine Diagram flew above Chiyou, and wisps of Primordial Yin-Yang energy descended, transforming into divine light that swept toward him.
They pressed their palms together toward Huijue and bowed deeply. Then, chanting a Buddhist mantra, they led the crowd of followers and headed toward the wilderness.
The sword wound on his shoulder, though not deep, did not hinder his movement and had stopped hurting. Yet, strangely, the wound felt numb and itchy; it was possible it had been coated with poison.
