Chapter 30: The Narcissistic Man
The other students were startled, looking at him with expressions of bewilderment.
Everyone in the class knew that Zheng Zhong had a crush on Liu Sisi. However, no one expected him to stand up for her, especially given the circumstances.
Liu Sisi’s beautiful eyes flickered, a touch of emotion stirring in her heart.
"Sisi has simply lost her way. As her classmates, we should do our best to guide her back to the right path!" Zheng Zhong declared, scanning the room with a deep, authoritative voice.
Liu Sisi couldn't help but mutter to herself: *What the hell does he mean by "lost her way"? I never went down a wrong path to begin with!*
So, had her momentary gratitude just gone to waste?
"Sisi, quit your job. I can go with you to a place where no one knows us, and we can start over!" Zheng Zhong walked up to her, speaking with profound sincerity.
Whispers broke out among the students nearby: "Good grief, even with things as they are, Zheng Zhong is still acting like a lapdog?"
"Even if he succeeds, what does he get? Just a woman who’s been played out by some old man."
"A goddess for the poor, a plaything for the rich!"
Liu Sisi looked at Zheng Zhong, confused and slightly indignant. "Why would I need to quit my job?"
Zheng Zhong wore a pained expression. Taking a deep breath, he said, "Sisi, I know you need the money, but your situation has been exposed. If you don't quit now, you'll be drowned in the spit of public opinion!"
Liu Sisi’s eyes widened in disbelief. Her voice rose an octave. "So, you also believe I’m being kept by some old man, right?"
Zheng Zhong hurriedly waved his hands. "Sisi, I don't mean to look down on you. After all, everyone makes mistakes. I just..."
Before he could finish, Liu Sisi took a sharp step back and coldly interrupted him. "Enough! Zheng Zhong, I told you long ago that we aren't a good match. Save your devotion for someone else."
"You’re rejecting me?" Zheng Zhong couldn't believe his ears.
He felt he was lowering his status just by accepting a woman with a ruined reputation. Not only was she not grateful, but she dared to reject him? Did she still think she was the pure, innocent campus belle?
Liu Sisi laughed in frustration. "Why shouldn't I reject you?"
"Liu Sisi, you’d rather be kept by an old man than be with me. So, you’re just looking down on me because I have no money, right?" Zheng Zhong’s face twisted in agony.
Liu Sisi felt that Zheng Zhong had lost his mind. There was no point in continuing this conversation, so she turned her head away.
However, Zheng Zhong wouldn't let it go. Panting heavily, he roared, "I never thought you were this kind of woman. Yes, I admit that old man has money, but I am still young!"
"The fortunes of life change; do not mock a young man for his poverty. One day, I will become a more successful man than he is! And you will regret this decision for the rest of your life!"
The other students burst into applause.
"Well said, Class Monitor! Liu Sisi will definitely regret missing out on you!"
"That old man is nothing but a fraud; he can't compare to you, Monitor!"
"There are plenty of fish in the sea. Monitor, you deserve better!"
The atmosphere in the private room reached a fever pitch thanks to Zheng Zhong’s thunderous declaration.
Just then, the door was pushed open from the outside, and Jiang Jin, dressed in a tailored white Armani suit, strode in.
"Wow, what a handsome guy!"
"Is he a student at Shuimu too? Why haven't I seen him before?"
"Could he be some celebrity?"
Every girl in the room who saw Jiang Jin felt their hearts flutter, and whispers erupted again.
Zheng Zhong, having had his limelight stolen, said unhappily, "Buddy, I think you've got the wrong room."
Jiang Jin smiled calmly. "Since Sisi is here, it means I'm in the right place."
Liu Sisi turned around and gasped when she saw him. "Boss?"
The students exchanged bewildered glances. "Wait... what did she just call him? Boss?"
"Isn't Liu Sisi's boss supposed to be an old man? How did he turn into a handsome guy who looks even better than the young idols?"
"Sisi, I didn't think I'd be able to find this place, did I? Surprised? Shocked? Happy?" Jiang Jin waved at her with a smile.
"Uh... I really didn't expect it," Liu Sisi said, feeling a bit guilty. This was something they had planned together; how could she not have expected it?
"No, I don't believe it! Sisi's boss is supposed to be an old man. You’re so young—how could you be her boss?" Zheng Zhong, who had always thought highly of himself, suddenly suffered a breakdown.
In terms of looks, Jiang Jin was better than him. In terms of presence, Jiang Jin was above him. In terms of wealth, Jiang Jin was leagues ahead.
So, how was he supposed to make Liu Sisi regret her choice? Was he really being slapped in the face right after bragging?
"Your question is too naive. I didn't want to answer it, but for Sisi’s sake, I think it’s better to prove it." Jiang Jin smiled, shaking his head, and pulled out his ID card for Zheng Zhong to see.
"See? I really am Jiang Jin."
The other students couldn't help but gasp.
"Seriously?"
"WTF?"
"No way!"
The girls, in particular, had been standing on the moral high ground to condemn Liu Sisi, largely because the rumors said the boss of Supernova was a sleazy old man. As it turned out, the man himself was not only not a sleazy old man, but a handsome man whose looks surpassed any young idol.
If they were to be kept by a man like this—rich and handsome—they would wake up laughing in their dreams!
Zheng Zhong couldn't handle the blow; his body swayed, and he nearly collapsed to the floor.
Just as everyone was stunned, Jiang Jin pulled a beautifully wrapped gift box from his pocket.
"Sisi, the moment I saw you, I fell in love with you. That’s why I hired you with a million-dollar salary to stay by my side."
"I intended to confess to you when the time was right, but I didn't expect these rumors about you to appear online..."
So Jiang Jin wasn't keeping Liu Sisi, but courting her? That made a world of difference!
Jiang Jin continued, "That’s why I tracked you down here, to tell you in front of your classmates: I like you!"
With that, Jiang Jin opened the box, revealing a wristwatch and a set of car keys.
"Oh my god, that looks like a key to a Ferrari 488!"
"A Ferrari 488? That’s over five million on the road!"
"That watch isn't simple either. It looks like the Patek Philippe 7042/100R-010!"
"Patek Philippe? My god, a top-tier watch brand!"
"Yes, and it’s not one of those entry-level models, but the popular 1.67 million one!"
"A watch worth 1.67 million? Poverty really limits my imagination!"
The two gifts Jiang Jin presented left the Shuimu students in awe. Although Shuimu was one of the two top universities in the country and its graduates were the pride of heaven, it would take them ten years or more to earn six million.
Yet, Jiang Jin had just casually given away gifts worth over six million. The gap was despair-inducing.
Liu Sisi blushed. "Boss, you..."
Jiang Jin smiled gently, his eyes full of understanding and tolerance. "Sisi, I know you aren't ready to accept me yet. That's fine; I can wait. After all, we are both still young."
"But you must accept these two gifts. Consider it a reward for your hard work lately." With that, he pressed the box into her hands.
Good grief—receiving gifts worth millions without even having to accept his confession? This was literally just throwing money at her!
Liu Sisi hesitated. "No... Boss, these gifts are too..."
Jiang Jin smiled lightly. "I know you're not a gold-digger, which is why I chose two gifts that aren't overly ostentatious but suit your temperament."
He paused, then added, "By the way, the car is parked at the restaurant entrance. I picked it up today, and I've already handled all the paperwork for you."
"I know you have a license. Remember not to drink later; just drive it home once the party is over."
The girls present were so envious they nearly fainted! A handsome, wealthy man thoughtfully giving gifts, giving the girl a way out, and gently telling her not to drink—it was a scene straight out of an idol drama!
The boys were equally envious; after all, what guy doesn't love a supercar? If someone gave them a Ferrari 488, who knows if they might even be swayed?
"But..." Liu Sisi wanted to say this wasn't what they had agreed upon, but she couldn't ask in front of her classmates. She felt completely conflicted.
"Also, I’ve prepared a small gift for your classmates as well."
Jiang Jin snapped his fingers, and a man in black soon walked in, carrying a large crate.
