Chapter 34: Flight to Yenan
As expected, Wang Nu showed a look of interest.
The young man gave a sly smile and continued, “Brother Nu, his girlfriend’s name is Su Tao, nicknamed Sister Peach. That pair of peach-shaped hips is absolutely top-notch. In my opinion, Su Tao is no less stunning than Gong Wanru. If you want to find a beauty, how could you miss out on such a seductive enchantress?”
The man with glasses shot a glare at the young man, feeling murderous.
He had originally planned to scheme against Ye Nan but ended up losing his own girlfriend instead. Was this his comeuppance?
Wang Nu asked the man with glasses, “Is everything my young brother just said true?”
The man with glasses sighed. He had wanted to hide it but feared for his life, so he could only nod.
Wang Nu stared at him and said, “You want to join our survivors’ team, right? Then why not offer your girlfriend to me as a token of loyalty? What do you say?”
Feeling the cold menace radiating from Wang Nu, the man with glasses dared not refuse and said, “Alright, I understand.”
“I have things to handle today, so forget it. Tomorrow at noon, bring Su Tao here. Got it?” Wang Nu said.
“Got it. I’ll do as you say,” the man with glasses replied bitterly.
“Alright, you may go.” Wang Nu said, then left with a few underlings.
The man with glasses stood there, sighing heavily. But soon his gaze darkened. Su Tao, you dare betray me? I won’t let you and your lover off easy.
Back at home, the man with glasses found Su Tao and stammered, “Uh… I have something to tell you.”
Su Tao, irritated, said, “Just say it. I have to go out to scavenge food.”
“Well… it’s like this…” The man with glasses told her about Wang Nu’s plan.
“You… you bastard! You actually offered me to someone like Wang Nu? Are you even human?!” Su Tao’s chest heaved with anger.
Last night, she had overheard the man with glasses and Wang Nu’s Mother plotting to have her sell her body for food. She hadn’t expected things to move so quickly, not even until noon yet.
Heh, how could I have been so foolish to fall for a beast worse than an animal!
The man with glasses got angry, glaring wildly. “You have the nerve to talk! You wear makeup and dress so provocatively. Don’t tell me you actually plan to go scavenging — you just want to meet that scoundrel, don’t you? I’m not blind.”
Caught red-handed, Su Tao didn’t bother to hide it anymore and admitted, “Yes, I’m going to see that scoundrel. I’m going to put a big green hat on you. Since you were planning to give me away anyway, what’s different about who it’s with? You’re a useless piece of trash; even scolding you is being kind.”
The man with glasses said, “Do you think I want this? Wang Nu is a psychic. He can kill us with a flick of his finger. No matter how much you resist, how can you fight him? Since the outcome is the same either way, it’s better to keep some dignity and at least get food. Besides, you’re already dirty; what difference does it make if one more person uses you?”
“You’re hopeless!” Su Tao fumed, steam practically coming out of her ears, and stalked off.
By the time the man with glasses realized it, Su Tao was already far away and impossible to catch.
Outside, tears streamed down Su Tao’s face, unstoppable. This time she wouldn’t come back. Never.
She was going to find Ye Nan and throw herself into his arms — the man she dreamed of.
When Su Tao arrived at Building No. 1, she just saw Ye Nan getting into a Hummer. She walked over, a joyful expression on her face.
“Oh, Sister Peach, why are you crying?” Ye Nan opened the door and invited her in.
As soon as she got in, Su Tao hugged Ye Nan, sobbing uncontrollably.
Ye Nan comforted her, “If something’s troubling you, just tell me. I’ll stand up for you.”
After crying for a long while, Su Tao calmed down and said, “Sorry, my makeup’s all ruined. I’m embarrassed.”
“What happened?” Ye Nan asked.
Su Tao told him the whole story. Ye Nan was utterly shocked.
“Wow, just wow,” Ye Nan muttered, speechless. “For some food, you actually gave your own girlfriend to someone else. I really admire that.”
“Ye Nan, from now on I belong to you. You can’t abandon me, or I’ll have nowhere to go. You don’t want to see me humiliated by Wang Nu, do you?” Su Tao gazed at Ye Nan with her beautiful peach blossom eyes, holding his attention tightly.
Ye Nan slapped her peach-shaped hips playfully, smiling, “With hips like these, I definitely have to help you. Come on, I’ll take you out for some fresh air and fun. From now on, you’ll live in my safe house — guaranteed safety, no harm will come to you.”
Ye Nan could tell Su Tao wasn’t lying.
With things as they were, there was no need to let her go back. After all, this incident had completely severed her ties with her boyfriend, and Ye Nan would no longer have any doubts.
Su Tao snuggled close to Ye Nan and whispered coquettishly in his ear, “No rush to go out. I guess you haven’t tried it in the car yet, have you? Want big sister to fulfill your wish?”
Ye Nan’s interest instantly piqued, smiling, “I’d be more than happy.”
Su Tao purred, “Then call me ‘good sister.’”
“Not just once, a hundred times if you want,” Ye Nan winked mischievously, “Good sister, good sister, good sister…”
“Alright, I’ll satisfy you now,” Su Tao said as she began to undress.
---
Ye Nan stopped her, meaningfully saying, “Sometimes, not taking clothes off is even more enticing.”
Su Tao pouted, “You naughty little brother.”
Then the two lost themselves in each other inside the car...
Su Tao was a yoga instructor with great flexibility. Although the car was cramped compared to a room, she could move freely, making Ye Nan’s experience all the more intense.
Meanwhile, the man with glasses hesitated but chose to go out and look for Su Tao.
If he couldn’t bring her to Wang Nu tomorrow, who knew what would happen next?
In front of a psychic, he was like a chick being mercilessly slaughtered.
He searched around the building but couldn’t find Su Tao, guessing she’d gone to Ye Nan. So he turned toward Building No. 1.
At the bottom of the building, he hesitated again. The safe house had strong defenses; there was no way to break in.
Damn it, he had miscalculated.
When Su Tao escaped, he should have stopped her immediately. He had hesitated back then; now it was all over.
Inside the car, Ye Nan looked out the window and said, “Sister Peach, your boyfriend is here to see you.”
Su Tao shuddered at the sight of the man with glasses standing outside, terrified.
Ye Nan took a breath and grinned wickedly, “Why such a big reaction?”
Su Tao huffed, “If I get caught, I’ll be so embarrassed I might as well die.”
Ye Nan said, “What’s there to fear? You’re not his girlfriend anymore. You’re mine.”
“That’s right,” Su Tao relaxed upon hearing this.
Ye Nan said, “That ungrateful jerk, we’ll make him pay.”
“Okay,” Su Tao said shyly. “I’ll be more proactive, but don’t finish too quickly, or I’ll look down on you.”
“Don’t worry, you can do whatever you want,” Ye Nan said with a wicked smile.
The man with glasses noticed the Hummer but the windows were tinted with special film: inside could see out, but outside couldn’t see in.
He saw the car shaking and knew someone was inside having fun but didn’t expect it to be Ye Nan and Su Tao. He shook his head with a bitter smile.
“In this apocalypse, some can barely find food, while others have time for pleasure. Comparing people is infuriating.”
He sighed deeply and turned away.
An hour later, the fun inside the car ended.
Su Tao’s cheeks were flushed, filled with resentment. That guy was like some wild animal, nearly wore her out.
Luckily, she was a yoga instructor with great flexibility. If it were another woman, she probably wouldn’t have managed.
“How are you feeling? Better?” Ye Nan asked, playing with a strand of her hair, eyes half-closed.
Su Tao glanced at the hickeys on her body and snapped, “Do you think I feel better?”
Ye Nan smiled, “Sorry, your figure is just too good, especially those peach hips. I couldn’t help myself.”
“Hmph!” Su Tao scolded, “You’re just a horny glutton. You’re so shameless.”
“Come on, I’ll take you out for a drive.” Ye Nan floored the accelerator and drove out of the neighborhood.
Su Tao worried, “What if Wang Nu comes tomorrow? Can you handle him?”
Ye Nan sneered, “Small fry. Don’t worry, I could beat him with one hand.”
He wasn’t lying. According to the man with glasses’ description, Wang Nu was probably a Level 1 psychic.
Ye Nan was Level 2, so he would easily overpower a Level 1. No surprises there.
“Since you’re so confident, I feel better,” Su Tao said, looking out the window. “Where are we going?”
“To the Donglin Grand Hotel. Ever heard of it?” Ye Nan asked.
Su Tao was surprised but happy. “Of course! I’m a regular there. I love their braised pork intestines! But now it’s the apocalypse; the chefs are probably zombies. What’s the use of going?”
Ye Nan said, “I said it’s useful, so it is.”
At the Donglin Grand Hotel, Ye Nan opened the tower gate and took out a large pile of ingredients.
Seeing Su Tao’s amazed expression, Ye Nan explained that he possessed some spatial psychic powers.
Su Tao’s face lit up with delight, her resolve to stay by Ye Nan’s side only stronger.
Honestly, meeting a man like Ye Nan in this apocalypse was an incredible stroke of luck — handsome, powerful, and with a storage space like the Thunder Tower, someone like him was rare to find, but she had.
“Today must be my lucky day.” The more she looked at Ye Nan, the more she liked him. Though they hadn’t been together long, she felt deeply in love, unable to pull away.
Outside the restaurant, Ye Nan knocked on the door and called, “Chef Huang, Chef Liu, it’s me, Ye Nan. I’m here to see you.”
The door opened, and upon seeing Ye Nan, both chefs were thrilled.
“Come in, come in. You brought plenty of food? We’ll cook it for you,” Ye Nan said, putting down boxes filled with frozen meat, fresh vegetables, and more.
Su Tao asked, “Can I order something?”
“Of course. Order whatever you want,” Ye Nan replied.
Su Tao held Ye Nan’s arm, full of charm. “Then I won’t hold back.”
Ye Nan grinned, “Don’t hold back. Eat well, or how will you have the energy to discuss life’s ideals with me tonight?”
Su Tao blushed, teasing, “You’re impossible.”
After some work, the two chefs prepared dishes — all Su Tao’s favorites.
She was overjoyed.
Ye Nan shared some with Chef Huang and Chef Liu and also brought several cases of bottled water and food supplies — bread, instant noodles, sausages — enough to improve their lives.
Chef Huang sighed, “Honestly, Brother Ye, I don’t know how to thank you.”
Chef Liu said, “If you ever need help, just ask. I’ll do whatever I can.”
“No need to be so polite,” Ye Nan smiled. “By the way, I left you hand crossbows last time, but against tough foes, they might not be enough. Here, take these.” He handed them two pistols and two grenades.
The two chefs’ eyes widened in disbelief, as if dreaming.
Ye Nan said, “These are real guns. Not many bullets, so use them sparingly.”
“Alright, alright. Thank you so much, Brother Ye,” Chef Huang said, eyes shining as he fondled the pistol. This was truly a life-saving gift.
Leaving the Donglin Grand Hotel, Ye Nan and Su Tao got back in the car.
“Great! Tonight, I’m going to have a feast. It’s been so long since I had authentic braised pork intestines,” Su Tao said happily, her peach blossom eyes like crescent moons.
“If you’d abandoned that beast earlier and come with me, you’d have been living well long ago,” Ye Nan said.
Su Tao sighed, “I regret it, I really regret it.”
Next, Ye Nan drove to a repair shop.
Outside, a huge, muscular zombie was attacking the gate — a mountain of a body, fierce face, pale teeth, sharp claws — far more terrifying than ordinary zombies.
A Level 2 zombie!
Since encountering a Level 2 zombie in the mall last time, this was Ye Nan’s first sighting.
At that moment, You Dehai, Wu Fangfang, and You Wen were attacking the Level 2 zombie with pistols.
Rat-a-tat-tat!
A volley of bullets struck the zombie, blood flowing. But the Level 2 zombie didn’t fall; it roared and attacked the gate even more fiercely, trying to break in and tear the three apart.
Ye Nan shouted, “Brother You, don’t waste bullets. I’ll handle this.”
You Dehai, hearing Ye Nan’s voice, was delighted. “Alright, Brother Ye, be careful. This big guy is tough.”
“Don’t worry, piece of cake.”
Since absorbing the crystal core of a Level 2 zombie last time, Ye Nan’s strength had improved. Later, after clearing the neighborhood and absorbing many Level 1 cores, there was no comparison to a regular Level 2 zombie.
Ye Nan summoned his Thunder Sword and strode forward.
