Chapter Fifteen: The Nine Lotus Golden Buddha
The sudden scene unfolding caused every passerby on the street to gasp in astonishment.
“Oh my God!”
“Whoa, that young man!”
“He stopped a runaway car with just one finger—is this a movie?”
“I’ve got to record this to capture the beauty of life…”
At the same moment, the car door opened.
A young woman stepped out.
She wore an elegant, high-end dress adorned with pearls and jewels, radiant and dignified, her features exquisitely beautiful, though her complexion was quite pale and bloodless.
Perhaps shaken by nearly hitting someone, she appeared visibly unsettled, her voice trembling.
“Are... you alright?”
“You should be asking me that,” Qin Feng smiled faintly. “Driving so fast on a public road—miss, were you trying to take off?”
“I... I didn’t mean to. My brakes suddenly failed, and someone was chasing me!” The woman apologized repeatedly to Qin Feng, her expression tense.
Chased?
Qin Feng frowned.
Before he could ask further, a fleet of Wuling Hongguang vans charged out from behind, advancing menacingly.
“This is bad!”
“It’s those thugs... they’ve caught up!”
The woman was terrified. Still, she clutched a small box tightly, its contents unknown.
“Who are you? Why are they after you?” Qin Feng asked in surprise.
“My name is Gu Qing,” the girl forced herself to explain despite her fear. “Recently, my father fell gravely ill and showed no signs of recovery... I specifically bought a Nine Lotus Golden Buddha at an auction to pray for his blessing.”
“But as soon as I left the auction, these people targeted me!”
“They want to steal my Buddha!”
The next moment, more than a dozen thugs leapt out from the vans, brandishing sticks with murderous intent.
“Bitch, let’s see where you can run now! Hand over the treasure!!”
“Or we’ll break your legs!”
“It’s over…”
Gu Qing’s face drained of color as she trembled uncontrollably, instinctively hiding behind Qin Feng.
Qin Feng had no intention of getting involved.
But the thugs, mistaking him for her protector, glared fiercely and cursed at him.
“Kid!”
“A warning: stay out of this or you’re doomed too!”
Qin Feng felt annoyed.
His gaze calm, he coldly retorted, “Robbing in broad daylight—has the city of Yunhai lost all law and order?”
“Haha!”
The thugs laughed arrogantly.
“Law?”
“In Yunhai, we are the law!”
“So what if your Mayor Gu is ill in bed? He’s dying anyway—why not give us the Buddha treasure!!”
Gu Qing was frightened but also furious at such nonsense.
“That’s ridiculous... my father won’t die!!”
“Your father?” Qin Feng was surprised. “So your father is Mayor Gu?”
After a moment’s hesitation, Gu Qing nodded.
“Yes... it must be because these villains heard about my father’s illness that they dared to try and steal.”
“Listen up!”
The gang leader sneered at Qin Feng with contempt.
“Thinking you’re some hero saving a damsel? You don’t have that privilege, kid. Get lost or we’ll kill you!”
“And if I don’t leave?” Qin Feng challenged.
“Dying!!”
The gang leader’s eyes blazed with fury as he ordered his men, “Looks like this punk wants to die—kill him first!”
At his command, the thugs rushed forward, swinging their sticks toward Qin Feng’s head.
Ruthless and ferocious as wolves.
But to their surprise,
Before the sticks could strike, Qin Feng merely waved his hand.
An invisible force slammed into the chests of the thugs.
“Pfft! Pfft!”
Before they could react, one by one they were blasted backward, crashing onto the ground, clutching their chests and coughing up blood.
“Wow…”
Gu Qing’s mouth formed an ‘O’, utterly baffled.
She had thought this young man looked too fair and refined to fight, but his skills were extraordinary!
Thank goodness—she was saved!
“What!?”
The gang leader was shocked.
Seeing his men sprawled on the ground and witnessing Qin Feng’s power left him stunned.
But regaining his anger, he pointed fiercely at Qin Feng and cursed, “You brat, you dare hit us... you’re asking for death!”
“Do you know who we are?”
“Our boss is the notorious underground overlord of Yunhai—the Tiger Lord! Cross him and you’re dead meat…”
Hearing this, Gu Qing was quite startled.
The Tiger Lord...
A feared figure in the underworld!
She hadn’t expected it to be him.
Yet Qin Feng raised an eyebrow.
Tiger Lord?
Hah, truly a case of the flood washing out the dragon’s temple.
“Heh heh, scared now?”
The gang leader thought invoking the Tiger Lord’s name would intimidate Qin Feng.
Brimming with arrogance, he continued to shout,
“Listen, kid, unless you kneel and beg for forgiveness right now, I’ll tell the Tiger Lord to skin you alive!”
“Otherwise, you’re done for!”
“...”
“Shut up!”
Qin Feng sneered and slapped the gang leader hard.
“Ah!”
The leader’s face was covered in blood as he screamed, flying several yards before crashing onto a car’s hood.
Torn tendons and broken bones!
The excruciating pain overwhelmed him, and he fainted on the spot.
Qin Feng dusted off his clothes and smiled at Gu Qing.
“All done. You’re safe now.”
Gu Qing hurriedly opened the box to check the treasure.
Inside was indeed a golden Buddha seated on nine lotus petals, crafted from superior materials—a rare and precious Buddhist artifact.
“Phew…”
Seeing the Buddha unharmed, Gu Qing breathed a sigh of relief.
Gratefully, she said to Qin Feng, “Thank you. If it weren’t for you, this treasure would have been stolen! What’s your name? I will repay you someday.”
“Me?” Qin Feng chuckled. “My name is Qin Feng.”
“Qin Feng, I’m truly grateful.”
“But you should leave quickly. The Tiger Lord is a powerful underground boss in Yunhai. Since you hit one of his men, he’ll surely come after you!” Gu Qing said with worry despite her gratitude.
Qin Feng remained indifferent.
The Tiger Lord...
Unbeknownst to her, Qin Feng had already subdued him earlier.
Now, he was his servant.
Qin Feng didn’t explain but instead glanced curiously at the Nine Lotus Golden Buddha.
Suddenly, he noticed faint black wisps on the statue.
Strange and ominous.
“Miss Gu,” Qin Feng frowned, unable to help but say, “This Buddha is not a blessing—it brings misfortune. I advise you to get rid of it.”
“Nonsense.”
Gu Qing frowned, displeased.
“This Nine Lotus Golden Buddha cost me millions at the auction. Many fought to get it.”
“Besides, it’s a Buddhist treasure, something auspicious. How could it cause disaster?”
Seeing her disbelief, Qin Feng sighed.
“I’m serious. This thing…”
“Alright, alright,” Gu Qing interrupted, seeing him as a know-it-all babbling nonsense.
“I have things to do. Thank you again for saving me today. Here’s my business card—contact me if you ever need anything.”
After saying this, she left hurriedly.
Qin Feng sighed.
He had tried to warn her out of kindness, yet she wouldn’t listen.
Sigh...
It seemed she was bound to encounter misfortune soon enough.
