Su Zhihan called Ji Han directly and recounted the recent incident.
“Old Ji, if you don’t start managing your troublesome love affairs, something bad will happen sooner or later.”
“If you don’t have any feelings for that Lin Pingting, you’d better tell Auntie sooner rather than later. Who knows how many times they’ve bullied Miao Ke already? Although she hasn’t told you, haven’t you noticed any of it?”
Su Zhihan simply refused to believe that he hadn’t noticed anything at all.
Their targeting had become so obvious; there was no way he hadn’t sensed these people picking on Song Miaoke.
Ji Han was initially stunned by her calling him “Old Ji” and was about to correct her.
But upon hearing the rest, his expression darkened instantly.
“Where are you two now? Is Miao Ke with you?”
Su Zhihan: “Obviously! I just stood up for her and scolded those people back. If she weren’t with me, where else could she be?”
“Hurry over! We’re at that café I often go to. You know the one. Bring two cups of milk tea from your company’s shop, the top two flavors; Miao Ke says your company’s milk tea is the best, so bring some on your way.”
Ji Han’s anger flared up but was immediately doused by the mention of those two cups of milk tea.
Looking at the call ended, Ji Han felt both annoyed and amused.
It seemed they were okay; otherwise, they wouldn’t be so concerned about milk tea.
But Lin Pingting definitely needed to be dealt with. Ji Han rubbed his temples, feeling a headache just thinking about his mother.
He truly couldn’t understand why his mother disliked Miao Ke so much when Miao Ke was so kind and lovely.
From the company to the café took at most half an hour, and the milk tea was still warm when it arrived.
Ji Han’s entire focus was on Song Miaoke. The moment he got out of the car, he rushed toward her.
Su Zhihan, who had come to receive the milk tea, watched in disbelief as he brushed past her with the drinks.
Su Zhihan: ??? I’m standing right here, didn’t you see me?
“Miao Ke, are you alright? Were you scared?” Ji Han anxiously scanned Song Miaoke from head to toe.
Song Miaoke smiled sweetly and replied, “I’m fine, thanks to Zhihan.”
Watching the sweet couple, Su Zhihan stood aside with her arms crossed, utterly speechless.
“Hey! Checking her soles is a bit much. Lin Pingting isn’t an ant; she can’t possibly bite Miao Ke’s feet.”
Su Zhihan rolled her eyes and snatched the milk tea from Ji Han’s hand. “Give it here! I’m standing right here, and you didn’t even see me? Your eyesight must be terrible.”

Whenever those two got together, Su Zhihan felt like they were from a completely different world.
She really couldn’t bring herself to be so openly affectionate with her partner.
Reading novels where the male and female leads act like this felt sweet, but in real life, when two people acted like that in front of her, she just found it sticky and cloying.
After Su Zhihan’s remark, Song Miaoke blushed deeply and nestled into Ji Han’s embrace.
Ji Han gently stroked her back to comfort her.
Su Zhihan took a sip of the milk tea; it was genuinely good—rich creaminess with a fragrant tea aroma—definitely made with quality ingredients.
Ji Han tried to take the other cup to give to Song Miaoke, but Su Zhihan slapped his hand away, eyes wide with caution. “What are you doing? Robbing me?”
Ji Han looked at his reddened hand, helpless. “Two cups of milk tea, one each for you two. Are you going to drink both yourself?”
Su Zhihan replied confidently, “Yes, both are mine. Don’t believe me? Ask your girlfriend.”
Ji Han glanced at Song Miaoke, puzzled.
Song Miaoke smiled sheepishly. “Actually, both cups are Zhihan’s. She helped me so much, and I didn’t know how to repay her, so she told me to treat her to milk tea, and that’s why you brought these two cups.”
Ji Han’s mouth twitched. Every time he met Su Zhihan, he couldn’t predict what would happen next.
Su Zhihan ignored his mood and enjoyed the milk tea’s flavor, thinking she’d try other flavors next time.
But back to the main point—Lin Pingting had to be dealt with.
“Old Ji, can you handle your mother? Lin Pingting acts so virtuous in front of Auntie, and Auntie likes her a lot.”
Su Zhihan shoved two straws into her mouth so she could taste two flavors at once.
Sitting opposite her, Ji Han and Song Miaoke watched her suck on the milk tea like a leech: “…”
Seeing her like that, Ji Han was momentarily stunned. “Say that again? I didn’t quite hear you.”
Su Zhihan repeated herself, eyes full of disdain.
“You’re hopeless—getting hard of hearing at such a young age.”
Ji Han tried to ignore her insults and steer the conversation back on track. “I’ll handle my mom, but I hope you can help by saying good things about me in front of her.”
Su Zhihan knew he’d say that but had no intention of helping.
“No way. I’m like a daughter to Auntie. If I spoke up for you, wouldn’t that break our mother-daughter bond?”
“You can break your mother-son bond with her, but not our mother-daughter bond.”
Ji Han and Song Miaoke exchanged confused looks: ??? What kind of logic is that?
Ji Han was utterly lost following her train of thought.
Su Zhihan went on, “Besides, if I spoke up for Miao Ke, Auntie might think Miao Ke’s only flattering me to get me to talk well of her, making her impression even worse.”
“The best plan is for me to stay out of it. You two work hard on your own, and when the critical moment comes, I’ll add fuel to the fire. That way, your chances of success will be higher.”
“If I helped you too early, it’d mess up your relationship with Auntie, and our mother-daughter bond would be affected too. That’s a lose-lose situation.”
Su Zhihan felt her logic was impeccable.
Ji Han’s mom was genuinely kind to her, always remembering to bring her gifts. That’s what a real mother-daughter relationship is like.
She wasn’t heartless enough to turn against someone who truly cared for her for the sake of those two.
No matter what, those two were going to be together, but if she damaged Auntie’s feelings, it would be hard to make amends later.
Ji Han and Auntie were biological, so even if their mother-son bond broke, it could be mended. But if she broke her bond with Auntie, it would be much harder to repair.
She wasn’t a mere NPC who revolved entirely around those two; she had to look out for herself too.
Finally, Su Zhihan added, “Actually, I’ve thought of a backup plan. If you can’t convince Auntie in the end and have to elope, I have a trick up my sleeve.”
Ji Han and Song Miaoke asked in unison, “What trick?”
Su Zhihan said, “Thanks to my relationship with Auntie, if I charm her well enough, change my surname and move my household registration, maybe I can replace Ji Han as the heir. Then I could support you two!”
Though the chances were slim, one must dream—what if it worked?
Ji Han glared at her with deadpan eyes. “Keep dreaming.”
Su Zhihan chuckled, “Just joking, just joking.”
But her earlier points made sense, and Ji Han gave up on asking her to persuade Auntie.
As for that mother-daughter bond talk, since she was so full of nonsense, he just let it wash over him.
Besides, he didn’t want a sister like her; the thought of living with such a sister was unimaginable.
